An electronic reimagination of Debussy's La Mer (the Sea).
Claude Debussy’s earliest marine memories go back to his childhood; he was eight years old when in 1870 his mother took him on a trip to Cannes. Breathtaking views of the Cote d’Azure remained in the composer’s memory for many years and finally took a tangible shape in the form of musical notation.
I was at a similar age when I saw the sea for the first time. Never before did my eyes reach that far as they did then, in the late 1980s, while I was gazing at the stormy, seemingly endless Baltic.
Two decades afterwards I listened to „The Sea” for the first time. It was the recording of the New Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Pierre Boulez. In the „La Mer” album I directly refer to the Claude Debussy’s composition.
Like Debussy I used my imagination and early recollections to describe the sea as I had seen it as a child. My inspiration by the work of the French composer, however, is limited – I took the liberty of using original titles, but as instruments employed a synthesizer, recorder, theremin and an electric guitar to create my own musical narrative of the sea.

Inspirację dziełem francuza ograniczyłem do zapożyczenia oryginalnych tytułów. W swojej pracy dźwiękowej do opisania morza użyłem syntezatora, recordera, thereminu oraz gitary elektrycznej.
